PR 2nd Judicial Officers batch to NJAI

On  8th Feburary 2023, a sending-off ceremony was organised for sending a batch of 50 Maldivian Judicial Officers to National Judicial Academy of India (NJAI), Bhopal for attending a capacity building programme.

50 Maldivian Judicial Officers (judges) are travelling to attend 2nd Customised Training Programme for Maldivian Judicial Officers - 13-16 Feb, 2023 - at National Judicial Academy of India (NJAI), Bhopal under the Feburary 2020 MoU signed between NJAI Bhopal and Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of Maldives for training and capacity building of 200 Maldivian Judicial officials. Earlier, under the MoU, amid COVID19 pandemic, NJAI organised a virtual training in October, 2021, which  was attended by 39 Maldivian Judicial Officers. Later, in Dec 2022, the 1st Batch Maldivian Judicial Officers completed training successfully.

Hon'ble Chief Justice of Maldives was Chief Guest at the ceremony which was attended by Chair of Judicial Service Commission,  Members of Judicial Service Commission and Judicial Academy & its Advisory Board, Senior Officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and participant judicial officers.

The course content of the in-person training programme, which has been designed as per the requirements indicated by JSC, consists of lectures & discussions. Training sessions would consist of Goals, Role & Mission of Court, Elements of Judicial Behaviour, Judging skills – art, craft & science of drafting  judgments,  Civil & Criminal Justice Administration, Alteranative Dispute Redressal System, Role of ICT in Judicial Processes, e-Courts and various emerging areas in modern Judiciary, etc. The training programme will provide an opportunity to share knowledge and experience among practitioners and academia on both sides.

India-Maldives signed an MoU in the Field of Judicial Co-operation between Judicial Service Commission, Maldives & Ministry of Law & Justice, India in August 2022. MoU shall pave for broadening of cooperation between Judiciary of two countries in areas ranging from Capacity Building to sharing of best practices & experiences with ultimate aim to strengthen the Judiciary, an important pillar of our democracies.
