Employment Contract Attestation

As per Maldives Government's Gazette Notification PDF file that opens in new window. To know how to open PDF file refer Help section located at bottom of the site.  dated 08.04.2013, attestation of employment contract/ employment letter is mandatory for employing any Indian national in non-Govt. sectors in Maldives.The attestation by High Commission of India is done in two steps:

Step 1 - Registration of Employers:

All individual and institutional employers should register with the High Commission of India if they are employing an Indian national for the first time. This is a one-time process. If the Employer has been already allotted a registration number by the High Commission, they do not have to register again. In such a case,

please skip to Step-2.

To make the registration process easy and hassle free, it is completely Internet-based and the employers do not need to come to High Commission of India or meet anyone. Please scan all the documents below and mail it to the High Commission on visa.malemea.gov.in

For Individual Employer:-

1. Employee Passport Copy

2. Employer National ID Copy or Employer Passport copy

3. Employee appointment letter or copy of the Employment Contract

4. Completely filled Employer registration form (Click here to download form  PDF file that opens in new window. To know how to open PDF file refer Help section located at bottom of the site.)

For Company or Firm:-

1. Employee Passport Copy

2. Employer National ID Copy or Employer Passport copy

3. Employee appointment letter or copy of the Employment Contract

4. Completely filled Employer registration form (Click here to download form  External website that opens in a new window)

5. Company Registration Copy

No fee needs to be paid at this stage. On receipt of these documents by email, High Commission will send a Letter of Registration with an Employer registration number within two working days. This letter of registration will be communicated by return e-mail. So please ensure that the correct e-mail ID is given during registration.

Please note that registration process is completely email based. Scanned copy of form and supporting documents sent by post will not be accepted by the High Commission.

Step 2 - Attestation of the employment contract:

On receipt of the letter of registration, the Employer should visit the High Commission with the following documents for attestation of the employment contract:

For Individual Employer:-

1. Employee Passport Copy and original

2. Employer National ID Copy or Employer Passport copy and original

3. Employment Contract copy and original

4. Letter of registration issued by the High Commission

For Company or Firm:-

1. Employee Passport Copy and original

2. Employer National ID Copy or Employer Passport copy and original

3. Employment Contract copy and original

4. Letter of registration issued by the High Commission

5. Company Registration Copy and original

High Commission will ensure minimum conditions like Salary, timely payment, timely renewal of work permit/visa, repatriation of mortal remains etc are included in the contract before attestation.

A fee of MVR 345/- will be charged as Employment Contract Attestation fee.
