Indian Cultural Centre celebrates its Second Anniversary in Male

The Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, in Male celebrated its Second Anniversary / Convocation Day on Saturday,  24th August 2013 at Faculty of Management and Computing (FMC) Hall which was attended by art lovers, critics, opinion makers, writers and distinguished people from all walks of life including all senior students belonging to three disciplines i.e. Yoga, Tabla and Kathak Dance.

In his welcome speech, Director ICC apprised the guests on the teaching activities being undertaken by the Center in three disciplines. In addition to teaching activities, Cultural Centre has a fairly strong calendar of events in the last two years, as also for the coming months of events. He said that the successes of the Center since its inception just two years fulfills the objective of establishment of the Cultural Centre, as a true Centre for the Cultural and Academic activities in Maldives.  He assured of the Center’s continuing efforts would to consolidate the good will and slowly spread to other Atolls in Maldives.

In his message, High Commissioner of India in Male’ Sh. Rajeev Shahare admired the efforts put in by Cultural Centre in terms of conducting its various activities including teaching. He expressed  satisfaction that within just two years the Cultural Centre has made a mark in Maldives and has emerged as an important place of performing Arts and shown its active presence in this country.

On this occasion, A Cultural program was presented by staff and students of ICC including Yoga demonstration by Yoga students. The unique experiment of fusion on Tabla and Boduberu, presented by Tabla students and Boduberu Artists was a special attraction of the show. It was a unique combination of two popular instruments belonging to India and Maldives.

The Second Anniversary of the Cultural Centre was also marked as Convocation Day for ICC students. On successful completion of their course of study at ICC, certificates were given to the students by High Commissioner of India.
