The High Commission of India held the first-ever “Open House” in Cyprus for inter-acting with members of the Indian community at the Gurudwara Sangat Sar Sahib, Larnaca on Sunday, 17th May, 2015.

Over 150 Indian nationals working as domestic assistants, agricultural workers as well as students studying in various educational institutions in and around Larnaca attended the event.

High Commission Shri Ravi Bangar addressed the gathering and urged them to uphold the good name of the Indian community in Cyprus as being a law abiding community.  He also urged them to get themselves registered with the High Commission and also encourage other members of the community to do so.  Forms for registration were also distributed to the participants.  The participants also discussed the problems being faced by them with the High Commissioner and other officials of the High Commission who were present on the occasion.

The initiative of the High Commission as a community welfare measure was welcomed and appreciated.  The initiative also afforded an opportunity to the Mission to directly interact and listen to the issues faced by them.

The High Commission proposes to hold three more “Open House” in Nicosia on 23 August, 2015, in Limassol on 20 September 2015 and in Paphos on 18 October 2015.
