The High Commission of India in collaboration with the ARTos Cultural & Research Foundation, Nicosia, has organized Namaste !ndia Festival of Indian Culture, in CyprusThe festival was inaugurated on 30th March 2015 and will run 7th April 2015.

On the inaugural night (30th March 2015) and on 31st March, 2015, dancers from the visiting Narmada Cultural Organization led by Ms. Narmada Devi Khumanthem performed Manipuri classical and folk dances which was highly appreciated by the audience comprising of members of the Diplomatic Corps, cultural and media personalities and other members of the public including the Indian community in Cyprus.          

The following two exhibitions have also been put on display for the above period:

Pluralistic Culture of India – An exhibition of 56 photographs by Shri Benoy K. Behl. It gives a pictorial presentation of India’s rich pluralistic culture from the time of Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BC to the 19th century AD and includes monuments erected over this vast period time by followers of different religions, faiths and beliefs.

India from my Lens – A selection of photographs by Cypriot photographers.

The Magic of Indian Weaves – An exhibition of 36 saris reflecting both traditional and contemporary design interpretations, highlighting a diversity of natural materials and techniques as well as an evolving aesthetic and colour story. The exhibition has been curated by Ms. Rta Kapur Chishti.
In addition to the above, there will be a screening of ‘Poetry of the Hills’ – a film by Shri Benoy K. Behl based on the miniature paintings of Kangra.
