Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

• The High Commission of India in collaboration with Women of India & Cyprus for Commerce and Industry (WICCI) organised an event on Gender Equality in the Workplace titled "Women Who Launch" at Cyprus University of Technology, Limassol. High Commissioner of India, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the importance of women empowerment in all spears of life. Panel discussion was held with the participation of the President of WICCI, Ms. Marina Zevedeou, Dr Maria Kapardis, Ms. Elena Tanou, Dr Maria Terzi, Ms. Mary Pyrgos, Ms. Harbeen Aurora, Dr Dimitra Milioni and Mr. Marios Giorgoudis. The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi's address at the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women Empowerment was screened at the event (03 October 2023).
• High Commission of India celebrated States of India in collaboration with Sanskriti Cyprus at Limassol. The event was addressed by the High Commissioner, H.E. Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat and the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nicos Nicolaides followed by cultural performances highlighting Ganesh Utsav.The event was attended by large number of officials and local people alongwith Indian diaspora in Republic of Cyprus (30 September 2023).
• The 154th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated by the High Commission of India by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial next to the Parliament of Republic of Cyprus. High Commissioner, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the importance of Gandhi Jayanti, as also being declared by the UN as"International Day of Non-Violence". President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou was the Guest of Honour. Defence Minister of Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Michalis Giorgallas graced the occasion alongwith Ambassadors, Parliamentarians, Government Officials, diplomats, and Indian community, and paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. An exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi with Cleanliness campaign was organised at the event (02 October 2023).
• High Commission of India organized “Startup India Event” at Reflect Festival 2023 as a "Country Partner" at Castle Square, Limassol. High Commissioner of India, H.E. Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted bilateral collaboration between India and Republic of Cyprus and the achievements of Startup India. Startup companies and experts participated from India (20 September 2023).
• High Commission of India celebrated Hindi Diwas at the High Commission of India Complex. High Commissioner, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat addressed the gathering highlighting the importance and relevance of Hindi. The event was well attended by the Indian Diaspora (14 September 2023)
• High Commissioner, Smt. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat  hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of 77th Independence Day of India. A video exhibition was installed to commemorate the observance of "Partition Horrors Remembrance Day"  alongwith an exhibiton on Women Freedom Fighters, at the event. Patriotic music and dance performances by Indian diaspora were also held. Har Ghar Tiranaga CAR RALLY was organised. The event was well attended by the Indian diaspora (15 August 2023).
• Curtain raiser event of 9th International day of Yoga 2023 was organised by the High Commission of India in association with United Nations Peace Keeping Force in Republic of Cyprus (UNFICYP) in Buffer Zone. High Commissioner, Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat and Major General, Ingrid Gjerde, Force Commander (UNFICYP) addressed the gathering highlighting the benefits of Yoga. Yoga practice session, based on ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ of Ministry of AYUSH was conducted by yoga instructor (14 June 2023)

• High Commission of India, celebrated in the framework of AKAM, the “International Year of Millets” 2023 at the Alion Vegetable & Fruits Company Ltd. Exhibition on millets was organized and millet products & millet-based dishes were displayed.  High Commissioner, Smt. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the health benefits and nutritional value of millets at the event (30 March 2023).

• High Commission of India, celebrated the “International Year of Millets” 2023, in the framework of AKAM,  with a promotional event on Millets at Irthe & Edese TV Show (Sigma Radio TV Public Ltd.) on 29 March 2023. The TV show highlighted Indian Millets products and live demonstration of millet recipes.

• High Commissioner, Smt. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat celebrated the festival of India - Holi with the Indian diaspora in the framework of AKAM.

• High Commission of India, celebrated in the framework of AKAM, the International Year of Millets 2023 at High Commission of India Complex. States of India were promoted with Holi festival. Millet cookery competition and Rangoli competition were organized at the event. A film and an exhibition on Millets was showcased the International Year of Millets 2023. (04 March 2023)

• High commission of India, celebrated the 74th Republic Day of India with the National Flag hoisting ceremony at the High Commission of India, Nicosia. (26 January 2023)

• High Commission organized an event ,in the framework of AKAM, for Indian students in Republic of Cyprus (16 December 2022).

• High Commission celebrated AKAM with Constitution Day at the University of Cyprus. High Commissioner, Smt. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University of Cyprus, Professor Tatiana Eleni Synodinou addressed the gathering. The documentary on "The Making of Indian Constitution" was screened. (25 November 2022)

• High commission celebrated AKAM with Women Entrepreneurship Day.  Women entrepreneurs based in Republic of Cyprus shared their valuable experiences. Mission also showcased GI items along with exhibition on Textiles & handlooms.(22 November 2022)

• High Commission of India, Nicosia in association with Mind, Body & Spirit Cyprus organised The Mind, Body & Spirit Wellbeing Festival highlighting Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Yoga & Ayurveda on 19th & 20th November 2022 at St. Raphael Resort, Limassol. Stalls, workshop sessions on wellbeing and videos on AKAM were organised at the event

• High Commission celebrated National Unity Day and AKAM on birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with Photo Exhibition on life of Sardar Patel and Unity run at Nicosia Municipality Park next to House of Representatives (Parliament). (31 October 2022)

• High Commission of India celebrated AKAM highlighting culture & handicrafts of states of India, alongwith festivals of Dussehra and Diwali. First Lady of Republic of Cyprus, H.E Mrs. Andri Anastasiades was the Guest of Honour. Cultural performances of various states were presented. An exhibition of handicrafts and GI items from different states was held. (08 October 2022)

• Swacchta' campaign was carried out to commemorate AKAM by High Commission of India with the Municipality of Strovolos. H.E. Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, High Commissioner of India and Mr. Andreas Papacharalambous, Mayor of Municipality of Strovolos led the campaign along with tree planting and Cleanliness activities at Vatika Park in Strovolos (06 October 2022).

• High Commissioner of India, H.E. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat celebrated AKAM & Durga Puja with Indian diaspora from MSC Shipmanagement Ltd Cyprus. On 15 December 2021, Durga Puja was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. (04 October 2022)

• Two tree saplings were planted by High Commissioner and Mayor of Nicosia, along with Photo Exhibition and Cleanliness campaign at Nicosia Municipal Garden to celebrate AKAM(03 October 2022).

• Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with homage to Mahatma Gandhi at the Bust near Parliament of RoC, with Cleanliness campaign and address by High Commissioner, Smt. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat. Parliamentarians, Officials, diplomats and Indian community joined in. (02 October 2022).

• High Commission of India, Nicosia celebrated AKAM and Ganesh Chaturthi in association with Sanskriti Cyprus at Dali, Nicosia. The event was addressed by H.E. Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, High Commissioner of India and Mr. Leontios Kallenos, Mayor of Dali followed by AKAM videos and cultural performances. (10 September 2022)

• High Commission of India  celebrated Hindi Diwas in the framework of AKAM .  High Commissioner, H.E Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat addressed the gathering highlighting importance and relevance of Hindi and AKAM. The event was well attended by the Indian Diaspora (14 September 2022).

• High Commission of India, Nicosia celebrated AKAM with an event with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar  of the Art of Living at the High Commission of India Complex (08 September 2022).

• High Commission of India, Nicosia, celebrated AKAM with Har Ghar Tiranaga CAR RALLY. The Car Rally began from Larnaca to High Commission of India, Nicosia (28 August 2022)

• High commission of India celebrated AKAM with Krishna Janmashtmi event at Larnaca on 19 August 2022.  High Commissioner of India, H.E Smt. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat and Mr. Iasonas Iasonides, Deputy Mayor of Larnaca graced the occasion. Cultural performances were presented and the event was well attended by Indian Diaspora.

• High Commissioner of India to Cyprus, H.E. Smt.Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of 76th Independence Day and celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at High Commission of India, Nicosia (15 August 2022).

• High Commission of India, Nicosia celebrated AKAM by launching a publicity campaign with the public bus services in Cyprus for the month of August to commemorate 75 years of India's Independence (01 August 2022)

• The High Commission of India, in association with Cyprus-India Business Association, Invest Cyprus and Cyprus Investment Funds Association organized AKAM Event ‘Economic and Commercial cooperation between India & Cyprus, highlighting the 3 Ts' in Paphos. High Commissioner, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat spoke on the scope of enhancing  opportunities between India and Cyprus with special focus on Trade, Technology and Tourism. The event included Photo exhibition on GI products of India and display of Indian Ayurvedic products, handicrafts and handloom. The conference was attended by Government Officials, Members of the Cyprus-India Business Association, Invest Cyprus, CIFA and Entrepreneurs, CEOs of Companies from sectors of Trade, Technology and Tourism (29 June 2022).

• High Commission of India, Nicosia celebrated 8th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2022 at Paphos Castle. High Commissioner, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the importance of Yoga. Mr. Phedonas Phedonos, Mayor of Paphos was the Guest of Honour. Yoga practice session was conducted at the event (21 June 2022).

• High Commission of India, Nicosia celebrated 8th International Day of Yoga on 19 June 2022 at Eliftheria Square, Nicosia. High Commissioner, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the importance of Yoga. Mr. Lucas Papayanis, Municipal Councillor of the Municipality of Nicosia was the Guest of Honour. • High Commission of India celebrated AKAM in collaboration with Indian Classical Music & Arts Cyprus (ICMACY) with a workshop on Indian Classical Music by an award winning legendary Indian Classical Vocalist, Mahesh Kale at the High Commission of India Complex. (04 June 2022)
• High Commission of India celebrated AKAM in collaboration with Cyprus Cricket Foundation. Summer T-20 Tournament was held between Everest Cricket Club & Hunters Cricket Club at the Lakatamia Stadium. The High Commissioner, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the importance of promoting sports and youth cooperation within the AKAM framework. (22 May 2022)
• High Commission of India celebrated the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore & AKAM by paying a floral tribute at the bust of Rabindranath Tagore at the University of Cyprus. High Commissioner of India, Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat and the Rector of the University of Cyprus, Prof. Tasos Christofides addressed the gathering (09 May 2022)
• High Commission of India in association with Paphos Municipality and Indian Classical Music & Arts Cyprus Foundation (ICMACY) organised an event on Indian Classical Music in the framework of AKAM at Attikon Multicultural Space, Amphitheatre, Paphos. Mayor of Paphos, Mr. Phedonas Phedonos and the High Commissioner, Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat addressed the gathering highlighting the rich cultural traditions of India

• High Commission of India in collaboration with Sanskriti Cyprus celebrated AKAM by screening of the Indian film “The Kashmir Files” at K-Cineplex Nicosia Prime (17 April 2022).
• High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat celebrated AKAM and Holi with Indian diaspora at Larnaka.  The event was graced by Mr. Neophytos Fakontis, Mayor of Oroklini and Mr. Jason Iasonides, Deputy Mayor of Larnaka. A Cultural programme was presented by Indian and Cypriot communities. (26 March 2022)
• The High Commission of India in collaboration with Hands Across the Divide (HAD), a bicommunal women's organisation in Cyprus, established since 2001 with a mandate to improve gender equality island-wide consisting of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots celebrated AKAM and International Women’s Day at High Commission of India. (17 March 2022)
• The High Commission of India in collaboration with Cyprus India Forum Nicosia organised the symbolic “Dandi March” “Salt Satyagraha - The Power of Nonviolent Action” to commemorate the 92nd Anniversary of Salt Satyagraha and it’s contribution in India’s freedom struggle. A five km. long symbolic “Dandi March” commenced from Strovolos Town Hall. High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the significance of AKAM and “Dandi March”.  Minister of  Energy and Commerce, Industry, Ms. Natasa Pilides was the Guest of Honour (13 March 2022).
• The High Commission of India in collaboration with Women of India & Cyprus for Commerce and Industry (WICCI) celebrated AKAM and International Women’s Day at Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted economic, political, social and cultural achievements of women from all walks of life. • High Commission of India organised an official Reception to commemorate the 73rd Republic Day . The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Ioannis Kasoulides was the Guest of Honour. The event was attended by the President of the House of Representatives (Speaker), Ms. Annita Demetriou; Minister of Defence, Mr. Charalambos Petrides; Minister of Justice and Public Order, Ms. Stephie Dracou, and Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Hadjipantelas. • High Commission of India in collaboration with Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry organised AKAM event on “Ways to expand India-Cyprus Trade and Investment Ties” at Limassol Chamber of Commerce. President of the Limassol, Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Andreas Tsouloftas and High Commissioner of India, Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat addressed the gathering. (19 January 2022)
• High Commission of India organised Makar Sankranti celebrations as a part of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Rangoli and cultural competitions were held with participation of Indian diaspora. (15 January 2022)
• High Commission of India celebrated Vishwa Hindi Divas highlighting AKAM at the High Commission of India Complex. The event was attended by large number of Indian diaspora in Cyprus. Video message of MOS(ML) on World Hindi Day was screened at the event. Various competitions like recitation of Hindi poem, Hindi story telling and speech recitation on India celebrating 75 years of Independence were organised at the event. (09 January 2022)
• High Commission of India celebrated Pravasi Bharatiya Divas highlighting AKAM at the High Commission of India Complex. The event was attended by large number of Indian diaspora in Cyprus. Prominent Indian diaspora shared their experiences on Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. (09 January 2022)
• The High Commission of India in collaboration with Women of India & Cyprus for Commerce and Industry (WICCI) organised an event to explore ways to deepen bilateral commercial ties to celebrate AKAM. High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the GI products of India, President of WICCI, Ms. Marina Zevedeou gave opening remarks and Ms. Irene Georgalla, Head of Economic Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed the gathering. High Commissioner, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat and Rector, Professor Panikkos Poutziouris addressed the gathering. Documentary on "The Making of Indian Constitution" and visual presentation on AKAM were organised at the event. The event was attended by the professors and students of UCLan University. • High Commission of India organized Cyprus Investment Funds Conference on "Opportunities arising from the reclassification of Cyprus into a category I country for SEBI regulations" to celebrate AKAM highlighting Atmanirbhar Bharat.
•  High Commissioner H.E Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat presented the opening keynote address, highlighting bilateral cooperation and opportunities in trade and service emphasizing funds sector and Indian reforms boost 2021in economic sector . A video on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was streamed. Chariwoman of Cyprus Investment Funds association Ms Nicole Kaliasides, Chairman of Cyrus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) Mr George Theocharides, CEO of Invest Cyprus,
• Mr George Campanellas, Chairman of Cyprus Investment Funds Association and President of India-Cyprus Business Association Mr Andreas J.Yiasemides were the guest speakers. The webinar was attended by nearly more than 300 participants virtually both from India and Cyprus.(12 Oct.2021).
• H.E. Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, High Commissioner of India celebrated AKAM and Gandhi Jayanti with Mr. Andreas Papacharalambous, Mayor of Municipality of Strovolos by inaugurating a public park of Ialyssos, dedicated as India Cyprus friendship park. The park has been adopted by  FML Ship Management Ltd.  The event included planting of tree saplings and cultural performance by Falcon School students.  Yoga practice sessions would be conducted regularly in the park (04 Oct 2021).

• H.E. Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, High Commissioner of India celebrated India 75  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Ganesh Chaturthi in association with Santosaveda Yoga on 10 September 2021 at Limassol. The event was addressed by the High Commissioner highlighting India 75 and relevance of Indian festivals.
• High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat celebrated India 75-Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with Ms. Elizabeth Spehar, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) along with UN Officers and Indian Contingents working at UNFICYP . The event included address by High Commissioner, highlighting the role of Indian forces working at the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, showcasing videos of AKAM and videos of  UNFICYP at the High Commission of India premises (02 September 2021).
• High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat celebrated India75-Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with the Mayor of the Municipality of Lakatamia, Ms. Photoula Hadjipapa  in collaboration with the Municipality of Lakatamia & Cyprus-India Cultural Association at Lakatamia Municipal Amphitheatre. Kite flying & Indian festival highlighting Indian Cuisine and Handicrafts were organized at the event (28 August 2021)
• High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat celebrated India75-Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with the President of the House of Representatives, Ms. Annita Demetriou, Director - General of HFC, Mr. Joseph Borghese and Representative of the Social Welfare Services, Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance, Mrs. Hara Tapanidou at "Hope for Children" Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) Policy Center, an International Humanitarian and Independent Institute in Nicosia, Cyprus. The event included address by High Commissioner, highlighting five pillars of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, tree planting, interacting and showcasing videos of AKAM to the children at the shelter of “Hope for Children" premises (26 August 2021)
• High Commission of India as a part of India75 - Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations organized Indian Community Welfare Fund Day (ICWF). The High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat gave opening remarks, Dr. Nasia Hadjigeorgiou, Assistant Professor in Transitional Justice, Human Rights from UClan University gave presentation on Rights of Domestic Workers and a talk was presented by Ms. Stella Katsari, Coordinator of Woman’s House – Domestic Violence Organization. Videos on India75 - Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and videos on Rights of Domestic Workers were screened on 22 August 2021 at High Commission of India premises.

• High Commissioner, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat celebrated with the Indian employees of MSC Ship Management Company, Limassol an event on India75 Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (09 August 2021).
• High Commissioner, Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat and Mrs. Thessalia Salina Shambos, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Cyprus celebrated India75 in association with Cyprus-India Cultural Association on 09 July 2021. Indian classical dance was performed and video on India's cultural heritage was screened at the event.
• A Remembrance event was held on 18 May 2021 in Wayne’s Keep Cemetery Memorial of Indian Soldiers martyred in the II World War, to commemorate India75 celebrations for martyrs of Indian Independence Movement and to express solidarity with COVID warriors of India and Republic of Cyprus.
