Data Submission by Stranded Indian Nationals

It has been decided by the Government of India to facilitate return of Indian nationals stranded outside the country to India in a phased manner. High Commission of India is therefore compiling a list of Indian nationals, who have genuine compelling reasons to return to India.

2.       The criteria for compelling cases are as under:

(i)       Facing deportation by Cypriot Government
(ii)      Migrant worker/Labourers who have been laid off
(iii)     Non-Permanent Residents/Short-term visa holders faced with expiry of visas
(iv)     Those faced with medical emergency/seeking treatment of terminal illness
(v)      Pregnant women/Elderly
(vi)     Those required to return to India due to health of a family member
(vii)    Tourists/visitors stranded abroad
(viii)   Students-if their educational institutes/hostels are closed

3.       The following points should be noted by those wishing to travel to India:

  • Airfare and other charges, where applicable, would be borne by the returnee
  • They will undergo a 14 days mandatory quarantine on arrival in India at their own expense as per protocols framed by the Government of India.
  • They will be required to sign an Undertaking and carry a copy of the same before boarding the flight.

 

4.      It is stated that the purpose is to only collect relevant data and no decision has been taken yet in this regard.  The High Commission will provide information in due course on the website and its social media platforms as and when a decision is taken by the Government of India in this regard.
