Visas

General Guidelines:

All foreign nationals entering India desiring to enter India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form a national passport or UN Laissez Faire with a valid visa for travel to India obtained from an Indian Mission or Post abroad.  The passports must be valid for at least six months as on the date of application for the visa or the duration of proposed stay in India, whichever is more.

The duration of stay in India during each visit on a tourist or business visa will be limited to period of three months.

The validity of the visa will be co-terminus to the validity of the passport i.e. if a passport is valid till 30.06.2018 and visa is applied for a period of five years, the validity of the visa granted will be restricted to date of expiry of the passport.

Application(s) for visa(s) in the prescribed form, complete in all respects, with two passport-size (35mm x 45 mm) photographs, passport(s) and all additional supporting documents may be submitted with the prescribed fee(s) at the designated counter at the High Commission of India, Nicosia.

Please ensure the following while submitting application(s) for visa(s):

  • Passport should be valid for a minimum period of six months beyond the date of intended departure from India.
  • Paste one photograph (35mm x 45 mm) in the space provided in the application form and staple one photograph to the form.
  • Non-Cyprus nationals  should submit document confirming proof of permanent residence in Cyprus.
  • Application form(s) should be filled in ENGLISH CAPITAL LETTERS.
  • Each visa application is considered on its merits and the High Commission of India, Nicosia, may require production of additional documents and /or require the applicant(s) to appear for a personal interview at any stage during processing of the applications).

 

For all Cyprus nationals the passport is normally returned the next working day after issue of visa. However, in case of requirement of any additional documents/interview/procedural requirements etc., it may take more time.

For non-Cyprus nationals, the passport is normally returned after five working days.

The High Commission of India, Nicosia, reserves the right to withhold or refuse visa to any individual without any obligation to disclose reasons therefor.

Tourist Visa – Online:

The Government of India has started issuing tourist visa for the nationals of many countries including Cyprus. Please apply at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in External website that opens in a new window . Other nationals may apply with High Commission with the following documents-
Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in Original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Documentary proof of residence (in case of non-Cyprus nationals)
  • Print-out of confirmed itinerary or photocopy of original air ticket 

 

Business Visa:
Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Letter of invitation from business firm or company in India
  • Letter from company in Cyprus nominating applicant as representative for the visit
  • Documentary proof of residence (in case of non-Cyprus nationals)

 

Note: The validity of the visa and the number of entries would be determined by the Consular Officer on a case to case basis.

Employment Visa:
Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Documentation of educational/professional qualification
  • Employment contract duly signed by both Employer and Employee, authenticated and approved by the concerned authorities in the Government of India
  • Certificate of Registration of Employer with the appropriate authorities in India
  • The minimum annual salary should US Dollars 25,000/- (US Dollars Twenty Five Thousand)
  • Undertaking from the applicant that he/she would abide by the applicable taxation laws of India
  • Documentary proof of residence in Cyprus (in case of non-Cyprus nationals)

 

Note: If deemed necessary, additional supporting documents may be required to be furnished by the applicant to process the application.

Student Visa:
Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Proof of admission to a recognized educational institution in India
  • Documentary evidence of financial standing to cover cost of education and living in India
  • Documentary proof of residence in Cyprus (in case of non-Cyprus nationals)

 

Note: If deemed necessary, additional supporting documents may be required to be furnished by the applicant to process the application.

Transit Visa:
Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Confirmed ticket(s) for onward destination, indicating date of arrival into and date of departure from India.

 

Note: Transit visas are valid for utilization within 15 days from the date of issue and for stay for a period not exceeding 72 hours on each entry, in case multi-entry transit visas are granted.

Journalist Visa:
Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Print-out of confirmed itinerary or copy of original air ticket
  • Any other documentation that may be required to process the application

 

Conference Visa:
Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Invitation specific to the applicant(s) from the Conference organizers along with details of the Conference
  • Print-out of confirmed itinerary or copy of original air ticket
  • Any other documentation that may be required to process the application


Visa for Missionaries:
Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Print-out of confirmed itinerary or copy of original air ticket
  • Any other documentation that may be required to process the application

 

Entry Visa:

Entry visas are issued to spouses of Indian nationals and also to such children who hold a foreign passport but one of whose parents is an Indian national.

Requirements:

  • Duly filled in application in the prescribed form*
  • Passport in original
  • 2 recent photographs (35mm x 45mm)
  • Apostilled marriage certificate in case of applicant being spouse of an Indian national with a copy of the Indian passport of the spouse
  • Apostilled birth certificate in case of applicant being child of an Indian national with copy of passport of Indian parent.
  • Proof of residence in case of non-Cyprus nationals

 
Others: Application(s) for visa(s) not falling under any of the above category, will be examined and processed on case to case basis.

Note: In case of withholding/refusal of visa, the fee paid by the applicant(s) is not refundable.
