India to gift Maldives helicopter, aircraft - Sun Online, January 21, 2016
Indian government has made the decision to gift Maldives another helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft.
Defense Minister Adam Shareef, who is currently on a three-day official visit to India, posted on social media on Wednesday that he met with Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar and top military officers. And that Parrikar had vowed to gift Maldivian government a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft during the meeting.
Indian media agencies reported that the country’s government reiterated their position as closest ally of Maldives when it comes to cooperation and assistance in the field of national security. And that it was promised during the meeting between Shareef and Parrikar to further expand and strengthen the level of cooperation.
