Maldives Customs Service Officials delegation visit to India from 18-22 October,
A group of 10 officials from Maldives Customs Service (MCS) are scheduled to visit India from 18-22 October, 2021, for attending a training programme in ‘Chemical Analysis & Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) testing’ at Central Revenue Control Laboratory (CRCL), New Delhi under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Government of India.
The officials would be imparted training in respect of laboratory testing of goods, particularly goods declared as ‘energy drinks’ at CRCL. The programme also includes field visits, hands-on training for identification of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances by latest scientific instruments.
The visit is being organized under the “MoU on Cooperation in Customs Capacity Building” which was signed during PM Modi’s State Visit to Maldives in June, 2019 between CBIC and MCS with an aim to enhance cooperation in capacity building of MCS.
Under the MoU, in 2020, around 10 senior MCS officials had an exposure visit to National Academy of Customs Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) Mumbai and 30 MCS officers attended a training program in Customs Valuation and Risk Management.
Despite COVID19 pandemic-related travel restrictions, MCS officials have been enthusiastically participating in the online training courses that have begun since November 2020.
