Transportation of 1,00,000 NCERT Books to the Government of Uganda

GIFT OF NCERT TEXT BOOKS TO GOVERNMENT OF UGANDA

 

Government of India remains committed to supporting African countries in their quest for economic development and capacity building.   During his visit to Uganda in July 2018, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi made an announcement for gifting of ‘100,000 NCERT Text Books’  worth USD 15,225 to  Government of Uganda. 

Three containers, containing 100,000 NCERT books have been received by the Government of Uganda.  The Text books pertain  to various subjects viz.  Mathematics, Science, Economics, Biology Chemistry and Sociology from classes 1-12. The books were officially handed over on 29th October, 2019 by Shri Sanjeev Goel, Charge d’Affaires, High Commission of India to Mr. Kakooza Alex, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Sports, Government of Uganda. The books have been accounted for and stored at Ministry of Education Store in Industrial Area, Kampala.  

The Permanent Secretary conveyed the appreciation on behalf of Government of Uganda for this valuable gift which will go a long way in supporting the students in their curriculum  in Ugandan Schools.

The gift of books to the Government of Uganda is a testimony to our longstanding support to Africa in the field of education.
