Celebration of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day 2019-20 at Kampala

On the occasion of India-Uganda ITEC Alumni Day on 07 October, 2019, High Commissioner of India to Kampala Mr. Ravi Shankar hosted a dinner reception at India House.

Mr. Francis Ojede, Executive Director, Uganda National Cultural Centre and an ITEC Alumnus was the Guest of Honour in the event.  A large number of Ugandan ITEC alumni attended the event.

High Commissioner addressed the gathering and informed about the wide range of training courses offered to foreign nationals under ITEC.  He also informed that as a new initiative of ITEC programme, private sector institutes / universities are being invited for providing ITEC training.  New innovations have been added under ITEC i.e. e-ITEC [to offer courses online], ITEC+ [for advanced courses offered  to higher level participants] and ITEC-onsite [short term deployment of trainers abroad]. He also informed that Government of India celebrated 55th Anniversary of ITEC Day in New Delhi. On this occasion a new ITEC logo was launched.

Participants thanked the Government of India for offering this scholarship opportunity to them.  They shared their experiences in India.  They underlined that skill development partnership could be further leveraged for mutual benefit of the young generation of the two countries.

The objective of holding the India-Uganda ITEC Day celebration was to create a network amongst the Ugandan alumni and recognize their contributions in deepening India-Uganda friendship.
