Information Regarding purchase of Indian postal Order
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL INDIAN NATIONALS
A new service called e-IPO (Electronic Indian Postal Order) is available at website http://www.epostoffice.gov.in 
for Indian citizens abroad to facilitate them to pay fee for seeking information under the RTI Act, 2005. The Indian Postal Order can be purchased by paying fee on-line through debit/credit cards.
The User needs to register at the website, choose Ministry/Department from whom user desires to seek information from under the RTI Act and use the e-IPO so generated to seek information from that Ministry/Department only. e-IPO is required to be attached with the RTI Application and can be used once only.
It may be noted that this facility is only for purchasing an Indian Postal Order electronically. All the requirements for filing an RTI Application as well as other provisions regarding eligibility, time limit, exemptions etc., as provided in the RTI Act, 2005 will continue to apply.
Please note that this facility is provided for Indian citizens abroad to seek information from Ministry/Department in India.
