Scholarship Scheme For Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, Ph.D And Research Programmes (Africa Scholarship Scheme By Indian Council For Cultural Relations)

Every year, Government of India offers scholarships for university education to students for undergraduate, post-graduate and research programmes to students from Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi at major universities in India. The academic session in Indian colleges and universities starts from the month of July.

Return Airfare and expenses on account of tuition fee, boarding & lodging, study tours, medical treatment and maintenance allowance are borne by the Government of India.

For Uganda, the High Commission of India, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Government of the Republic of Uganda, selects candidates in January/February every year and forward their applications to ICCR, New Delhi. The ICCR awards the scholarships after finalizing initial admission/ allocation procedures with Universities in India.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda and the Ministry of External Relations and International Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi carry out the initial selection of students from these countries and after processing by the High Commission of India in Kampala, students are finally allotted colleges and Universities by ICCR, New Delhi.
